First aid for my pets’ insect bite or sting

  • Remove the sting with tweezers if it is visible (taking care not to squeeze the venom sac).
  • If swelling is present, a safe antihistamine can be given (seek veterinary advice for an antihistamine type and dose that is safe for your pet).
  • If your pet experiences excessive panting, problems breathing, vomiting or diarrhoea, or the hives or swelling do not improve within 30 minutes of giving an antihistamine, seek veterinary advice as soon as possible.

All items for this procedure can be found in the Vet in a Van – Navigator Pet First Aid Kit
